OpenSpot vs. FlashParking

OpenSpot and FlashParking, side by side

This one is simple and it is about the buying process, not the feature list. FlashParking's published contract terms are three to six years and its prices are behind a sales call. OpenSpot's pricing is on the website and you can be taking payments this afternoon without speaking to anyone.

OpenSpot compared with FlashParking, by cost, contract and capability. Figures FlashParking does not publish are marked as not published.

Questions

Answers before you sign up

Setup, hardware, pricing, and switching: the questions operators ask before trying a new platform.

FlashParking's pricing page describes three models, Hardware-as-a-Service, transactional and one-time purchase, but publishes no dollar amounts and directs you to speak to its parking experts for a quote. That is a normal enterprise sales motion and it is not a criticism, but it does mean you cannot compare the two without a call. OpenSpot's numbers are on the pricing page: $0 a month for the operator, and a 10% convenience fee charged to the driver per transaction.

FlashParking publishes contract terms of three, four, five or six years on its subscription models, with longer terms lowering the monthly payment. OpenSpot's QR product is month to month and you can cancel any time. OpenSpot's Enterprise LPR option does involve a longer managed subscription, typically 24 to 48 months, because it bundles hardware, installation and maintenance at no upfront hardware cost.

Yes, for plate-based access control. OpenSpot's LPR drives an existing gate arm or works gate-free, and replaces cards, fobs and clickers, including time-boxed access. What OpenSpot does not do is replace a full PARCS installation with ticket dispensers and pay stations across multiple lanes, which is the kind of deployment FlashParking is built around.

OpenSpot is self-serve. You sign up, set a rate, put out a QR sign, and most lots are live in about 10 minutes, with the first payment landing the same afternoon. FlashParking's pricing page publishes no amounts and directs you to speak with its parking experts, so the first step there is a scheduled call rather than a signup. That is a difference in buying process, not in product quality, but it is the difference you feel first.

Financed equipment. Flash's HaaS model spreads hardware cost across a fixed monthly fee over a three-to-six year term with little to no upfront cost, and it is built around gated PARCS deployments: ticket dispensers, pay stations, multiple lanes, valet. OpenSpot does not sell that and cannot replace it. The closest equivalent on the OpenSpot side is Enterprise LPR, which bundles cameras, installation and maintenance into a managed subscription with no upfront hardware cost, but that is plate-based enforcement and access control rather than a lane-by-lane PARCS system.

No hardware required for QR payments. Just printed signage with a QR code. LPR enforcement is optional: if you want automated plate reading, we handle the camera installation. Most operators start with QR only and add LPR later.

LPR cameras read license plates automatically and flag unpaid vehicles in your dashboard with photo evidence and a full audit trail. No kiosks, no gate arms, no paper tickets. For lots without cameras, you can issue citations manually from the dashboard using the same plate-check flow.
